Kerstfeest 2023 – A whole day of activities marked our Christmas celebration

Every year, Road of Hope celebrates Christmas together with the entire community. It’s time to get together with our partners, sponsors, and the families of our growing community from Syria, Ukraine, Eritrea, South America, Sudan, Iran, Palestine, The Netherlands, and others. This year, almost a hundred people sat at the table to share delicious food and a night of fellowship. Ru Pare was all well decorated and full of Christmas Carols, making the atmosphere look like the world should be: a welcoming place to everyone.

“As this year draws to an end, we would like to come together and celebrate love and the hope for new beginnings! This year was challenging for our refugee community, with many uncertainties, tragedies, and conflicts in the world. Therefore, having a moment to be together and support one another is so important.” says Patricia Barandregt, the director of Road of Hope.

During the day, two workshops were held: Making Candles, led by the coordinator of Ondernemerschap Project Tatev Pardjinjan, who taught how to make natural candles to 20 participants. And the Creative Textile, with the amazing artist Dora Tiho, who volunteered herself at Together Project for this whole season! The botanical dye techniques were a delightful time for the 10 participants.

We are so grateful to our Ru Pare community who partnered with us to make this beautiful day happen. We are also thankful to all the suppliers, such as “Sabores da Terra” for the delicious food, Patricia Viana for the beautiful decorations, and to all the supporters, coordinators and volunteers. You made this day very special!
