The Ondernemerschap Project is a unique entrepreneurship program that supports newcomers and people with a refugee background in New-West Amsterdam who want to achieve greater financial independence by starting their own business. All the activities of the project are part of the Ondernemerschapstraject.
Project Ondernemerschap Main Activities
The project has two cycles of six months with 16 theoretical classes that will be taught by experienced entrepreneurs. Following this, the participants will receive a mentor that will guide them during six weeks. During the project, we organise networking meetings.

Dedicated to aligning each participant’s goals and expectations with what the program offers. The introductory meeting helps transform entrepreneurial aspirations into concrete and achievable plans.
Participants receive personalized mentoring and practical guidance to build a solid foundation for their business. The process includes learning about legal, tax, and administrative requirements in the Netherlands, refining business ideas, and developing the confidence needed to make informed decisions. It also focuses on strengthening key entrepreneurial skills, such as initiative, flexibility, creativity, discipline, and focus, while promoting balance between personal life and professional responsibilities.
The Ondernemerschap Project offers a course designed for people who want to start their own business in the Netherlands. It helps participants understand the rules of entrepreneurship, develop the skills needed to start a business or work as a freelancer, and receive guidance to improve an early-stage idea. Those who already have a clear business concept can also benefit from additional support and follow-up to ensure they move forward in the right way.

FROM IDEA TO OWN BUSINESS: Course for Social Organizations in New-west Amsterdam
It welcomes social organizations in New-West Amsterdam and offers them a practical course they can provide to their community members. Led by project coordinator Agatha Kuiper and an experienced team of volunteers, the program serves as an accessible starting point for anyone interested in exploring entrepreneurship in the Netherlands. The course provides practical guidance to help participants develop and strengthen sustainable business ideas in a supportive learning environment. The learning process unfolds through 10 in-person sessions of 2 hours each, totaling twenty hours of structured training.
Alongside the group sessions, each participant receives 2 hours of individual mentoring, offering tailored support in creating a clear and strategic plan for starting a business in the Dutch context. This approach ensures that every participant not only gains knowledge, but also emerges with a concrete and realistic pathway to move from idea to action.
