Road of Hope

Spilnyi Sad” – Exhibition explores the feeling of temporary displacement.

“Spilnyi Sad,” which means “Shared Garden,” is the final activity of Rootless, an initiative created by the Ukrainian contemporary artist Alina Bielun inside of Together, the Road of Hope project for welcoming Ukrainians to Amsterdam.

The exhibition will put together the work of six Ukrainian women who have shared experiences and worked for 7 months on this project. “Through multidisciplinary works that present audio, video installations, rituals, and performances, the exhibition explores the feeling of temporary displacement”, explains Alina.

Although composed and organized by Ukrainians, the exhibition brings universal feelings and reaches out to different groups of people in situations of forced displacement. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), over 48,500 asylum seekers and following relatives entered the country in 2023.

Shared Garden takes place at Treehouse NDSM, on May 31st. Opening at 19:00.

The exhibition will last until June 9th.13:00-18:00.
