Participants of the “Motherhood Across Culture” course and the Riekerhaven “Personal Development” course celebrated a significant milestone. Certificates were awarded to honor their dedication and commitment to personal growth and learning.
During the final session, the women had the opportunity to reflect on their experiences throughout the course. The intimate gathering provided a warm and supportive environment for them to share their personal journeys, highlighting their achievements and the progress they have made.
The certificate award event brought together women from diverse backgrounds. The Mothers’ Group consisted of two inspiring ladies from Syria and Eritrea, while the Riekerhaven Personal Development Group included two determined ladies from Eritrea. The Mothers’ Group sessions were hosted at Leger des Heils space and the Personal Development course was conducted in partnership with Startblok Riekerhaven.
Participant Feedback
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed that the breathing exercises were particularly valuable, helping them manage stress and enhance their well-being. Additionally, participants noted significant improvements in their Dutch language skills, citing the reading exercises and sentence structure practice as beneficial aspects of the program.
Some participants appreciated the small group setting, which allowed for a personal and focused approach, fostering a sense of comfort and individual attention. However, others expressed interest in larger groups to expand their social networks and connect with more women facing similar experiences.
Transition and Future Prospects
The Breath of Hope Project has been under the dedicated leadership of Adriane Vieira, who not only coordinated the project but also served as one of its mentors. As Adriane embarks on new adventures, the project will now be led by the capable hands of Andreea Alexandru, a psychologist and the new project coordinator at Road of Hope. We all proudly acknowledges the contributions of both coordinators, celebrating Adriane’s positive departure and Andreea’s enthusiastic leadership moving forward.
What’s Next
Exciting developments lie ahead for the Breath of Hope Project. In partnership with HVO Querido, SHE, and other partners, new groups and activities are set to commence in February. These initiatives aim to expand the project’s reach, welcoming not only women and mothers but also more diverse target groups, including undocumented adults, both men and women.
As the Breath of Hope Project continues to evolve, it remains committed to fostering personal development, mental/emotional support, and empowerment within the community.
